Costa Rica
If you come from Costa Rica, you need to get off at Rivas at the Esso gas station. You have to take a taxi to the harbour of San Jorge (this will take you about 10 minutes), then you need to take a lancha or ferry that will take you to Moyogalpa or San José del Sur (one hour of travelling) Here you need to take a bus to Altagracia and then you have to travel to Balgüe or Mérida and ask if they can take you to Santa Cruz. Hostal Espirales will be at the trail and be ready to welcome you (about 1,5 hours of travelling as soon as you arrive at the island)
Managua
If you come from Managua take a taxi from Mercado Huembes, here take an express bus that will take you to San Jorge (they will go directly to the harbour), although you can board any express bus that passes for Rivas, get out at Rivas at the Esso gas station and take a taxi to the port of San Jorge, here you can take a boat to Ometepe. Once you arrived at Ometepe you can board the bus to Altagracia and then you have to travel to Balgüe or Mérida and ask if they can take you to Santa Cruz. Hostal Espirales will be at the trail and be ready to welcome you.
Another option when you arrive to the island, is to arrange touristic transport that will take you in only 45 minutes, the prices vary from 25 till 30 dollars.
